At Woodland Ridge, we fight for our Veterans (even if its just with a petting zoo).

Through the Woodland Ridge Foundation, we assist seniors who might otherwise be unable to afford skilled nursing or assisted living by offering supplemental grants to those who qualify. Those grants make a tremendous difference in the lives of many seniors, and much of the funding and charitable contribution comes from our annual Fall Festival.

The Woodland Ridge Fall Festival is tomorrow from 10am – 4pm. We’re entering our third year building the festival, and we’re proud to say its grown even bigger this year! Always a community event, there will be dozens of volunteers on hand working to raise money for the Veterans Foundation. Businesses from around town have donated to the foundation, and we’ve got quite the menu of events planned!

Antique cars from car clubs and private collections will be on display while family members, staff and residents judge which hot rod is hottest, awarding prizes and trophies to the winning car owners.

Smyrna Fire and Police will be present to give tours of their equipment and cars/trucks, and to interact with the community and kids.

Two bands have donated their services replica watches, so there should be great music and dancing throughout the day.

For the kids, we’ll have a petting zoo, arts and crafts, face painting, an inflatable bouncy castle, bingo, a hula hoop contest, fun Halloween games and a cake walk. They’ll love to see how many awesome activities are awaiting them.

Lots of businesses and service companies have offered items for inclusion in our annual raffle. This year, we’ll be raffling off gift baskets, gift cards, donated dinners, coupons and prizes.

The food as always will be delicious – we’ll have BBQ, hamburgers and hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy, funnel cakes and so much more.

Last year we had about 200 friends, families and community members take part in the Fall Festival, and this year is shaping up to be even bigger and better than before. So please join us tomorrow to celebrate our seniors and the arrival of fall, and remember that above all else, taking part in Fall Festival will help a Veteran of a foreign war to receive the compassionate care they need!
