Employee Spotlight, December 2023
In our Employee Spotlight for December are our 2 longest serving team members, Anna Williams and Paula Patterson, both Med Techs who each have over 21 years with Woodland Ridge Assisted Living. They are the recipients of the Wanda Braziel Award for Excellence which is equivalent to an Employee of the Year Award. Here is a little information about each of them.
Anna Williams is originally from Broxton, Georgia, and has 3 sisters. She remembers working in the tobacco fields when she was just 11 years old. Later she worked in chicken processing plants for both Goldkist farms and Campbell’s soups.
When Anna first started at Woodland Ridge, she worked the night shift and would then help in the kitchen at breakfast. Anna was happy when Woodland Ridge sent her to CNA school and then she moved up to Med Tech over 12 years ago.
She has a daughter, Kendra, and a son, Lee, along with 5 grandchildren whom she loves to spend time with. Anna loves to cook and loves to go shopping. She says, “I like everything about Woodland Ridge. I love my residents.”
Paula Patterson is originally from Jamaica and grew up the oldest with 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She has wonderful memories of her Grandmother caring for her and is glad she was there to care for her Grandmother when she needed it. After high school, Paula went to a beauty school and a secretarial school. She worked at the Kingston Public Hospital as a secretary, eventually moving to the United States in 2001.
Once here, she got her CNA license and began working at Woodland Ridge as her 1st job in the United States.
Paula has been married to her husband for over 38 years and they have 2 children as well as 3 grandchildren. She loves to read Danielle Steele novels and plays the video game Candy Crush. She says, “I like that it’s not about the money here. When I had health issues back in 2004, the boss told me to come in when I could and she worked with me until I could get back to my normal schedule.”
We are so fortunate to have two such dedicated and caring individuals as part of our family. Their continuity of care, dedication, and empathy makes them irreplaceable members of our care team.
