Should You Consider Oral Antivirals to Treat COVID-19?

Caregiver Smyrna GA-Two oral antiviral treatments for COVID-19 are now available with a healthcare professional’s prescription. The oral antiviral treatments help to stop the SARS-CoV-2 virus from multiplying in your body.

Two oral antiviral treatments for COVID-19 are now available with a healthcare professional’s prescription. The treatments Paxlovid, by Pfizer, and Lagevrio, by Merck, both have an Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to help your body fight COVID-19. These oral antiviral treatments help to stop the SARS-CoV-2 virus (the virus that causes COVID-19) from multiplying in your body. This helps to lower the amount of the virus that is in your body which can result in less serious symptoms and may lower the chances of getting worse and/or needing hospitalization.

Who is eligible for treatment with Paxlovid or Lagevrio?
