Woodland Ridge’s resident of the month is Christine!Ms. Christine is originally from Chatham, New Jersey where she grew up in a family with one sister, Phyllis. Christine said her father was an electrical engineer for Western Union, but as a hobby loved to build things like bookcases and their fireplace.
They always had a pet cat or dog which is where her love of animals started. After graduating from Chatham High school Christine worked her first job as a hostess in a restaurant. She went on to work in the offices for the local government for nearly 30 years.
Christine has one son, Les who came to Georgia to go to college at UGA and after graduating decided to stay in Georgia. Ms. Christine also has one grandson, Tyrion. She and her son also lived with Ms. Christine’s parents in Cape Cod after her dad retired there.
Ms. Christine remembers loving to go to New York, taking the train and then the subway to get to Manhattan to shop at Macy’s or Gimbels. She loved the Broadway shows and Central Park Zoo, too. These trips were usually once a month and also gave her the chance to go to see the Yankees play. She remembers especially watching Joe DiMaggio.
Her love of traveling has led her to visit England, Scotland, Wales, Spain, Mexico, Canada, and Newfoundland. Besides traveling, Christine’s other hobbies include reading, mainly mysteries and the local newspaper, painting landscapes and her love of her cats. Christine still enjoys the pet visits here at Woodland Ridge and she says she loves the Georgia weather. Christine is proud of her independent spirit but is always happy to help others. We are so grateful to have Ms. Christine with us here at Woodland Ridge!
