Our Resident Spotlight for March shines on Agnes Simonson. Ms. Agnes has a wonderful sense of humor that she shares with a sly smile. We’re so glad she decided to call Woodland Ridge her home.

Resident Spotlight – March 2024

Ms. Agnes is originally from Elyria, Ohio and grew up with 3 sisters and 1 brother. Ms. Agnes was her Dad’s favorite and got to go work on houses with him. She remembers going down to the river to pick dandelions for dinner and when her Aunt Sadie would come over to visit, they would play dead.

After high school Ms. Agnes went to Oberlin College, School of Commerce and graduated with a business degree. Her first job was at Lorain of Ohio. She went on to work as a legal secretary for approximately 10-15 years. Ms. Agnes enjoys giving back and volunteered in the office at Hospice for over 30 years. She said her most important job was being a good mother to her two sons, Bill and Steve. Bill and his wife, Kim, have given Ms. Agnes 2 grandchildren, Alex and MacKenzie and Steve and his partner, Puneet have given Ms, Agnes 2 grand dogs that she loves too. She is very fond of Puneet’s Mom and they jokingly call each other body parts.

Ms. Agnes favorite things to do include gardening, baking, socializing, painting and reading. She is a devout Catholic and even met the Pope on a visit to Rome in 2011. Stephen remembers Ms. Agnes reading “The Night Before Christmas” every year and teaching him how to cook. They made caramel corn and fudge together. Other family traditions include going to Dunkin’ Donuts after Church on Sundays and going to Grandma and Grandpa’s every Thanksgiving to celebrate with the cousins.

Here at Woodland Ridge Ms. Agnes enjoys the music, exercise, Bible study, crafts and trips out for lunch or a bus ride. Ms. Agnes has a wonderful sense of humor that she shares with a sly smile.
