🌟 Employee Spotlight: April 2026 – Petronila George 🌟
Originally from LaGrange, Georgia, Petronila George is a proud “Navy brat.” Shortly after she was born, her family moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where she lived for five years before relocating to Chicago, Illinois. She remained in Chicago until the age of 18, shaping many of her early memories there.
After returning to Georgia, Petronila met her husband, Robert George, and the two have now been happily married for 25 years. Their love story began at Publix when her youngest son, Jamari, asked Robert for help. That simple moment led to a conversation, exchanged numbers, a first date over dinner, and a movie. Together, they have a beautiful family with seven children.
Petronila comes from a close-knit family of five siblings, two brothers and two sisters; she is the third child. One of her fondest memories growing up was going to the movies with her mother, moments she still cherishes today. She attended George Washington Carver High School in Chicago from 9th through 12th grade. Continuing her education, Petronila pursued two years of study in medical billing and coding, two additional years in CNA training, and one year in medical assisting.
Her first job was at McDonald’s in Chicago, but her true calling came later in life. When her mother became ill, Petronila discovered her passion for caregiving. She realized that if she could care for her mother, she could care for others, and that realization led her into the healthcare field.
Today, Petronila has been a dedicated Med Tech at Woodland Ridge for three years. She shares that she truly enjoys working with the elderly and appreciates both her coworkers and the supportive environment. She takes pride in how far she has come on her journey.
Outside of work, Petronila enjoys knitting and singing. She loves spending time with her family, especially attending church together. The holidays, particularly at Christmas, are very special to her, filled with family gatherings, gift exchanges, and precious moments with her grandbaby. Petronela is also a proud member of the sorority Iota Zeta Sigma Gamma Rho.
