Employee Spotlight – June 2024
Our Employee Spotlight is on Lisa Reeder, who was the accounts expert at Caravita, our management company. Many of our family members have talked with Lisa over the years, although they may have never met her in person. Sadly, Lisa passed away on May 7th. We wanted to share her obituary with all of you.
Lisa Hatcher Reeder, 58, of Roswell Georgia died surrounded by love on May 7, 2024. After a courageous four-year battle with an illness she hated. Lisa found peace in her ultimate triumph over it in the end. Above all, Lisa cherished her family, whom she leaves behind: her husband Michael and her children Sydney (Kyle Rhoades), Quinn, Liam (Nicole Lewis) and Evee.
Lisa was born on November 6, 1965, in Martinsville, Virginia, to Curtis and the late Laverne Hatcher. Her father, along with her brother Tim Hatcher and his wife Janet, still reside in Virginia, which has always been a place of peace and tranquility for Lisa and where her passion for nature was nurtured. She ventured off to George Mason University in 1983, later moving to Washington DC to work at the Capitol after her graduation. It was there that she met Lance Corporal Michael Reeder, who was serving in the Marine Corps Presidential Guard at the time. Lisa and Michael wed in October 1990 and moved to California following the Gulf War, as their military family began to grow. Eventually, they returned to Michael’s home base in northern Atlanta, where they established their home, raised their family, deepened their faith, and built their community.
Lisa earned respect in every role she accepted. She worked in several administrative roles since arriving in Atlanta and remained active in her role at Caravita up until the end. She was as smart as a whip, strong as a boulder, and wiser than an ancient tree to everyone she served. Her coworkers didn’t just love her for her advice and skills; but for her friendship.
But the role she loved the most was chief financial officer, head chef, cheerleader, and enforcer. She ran the books for Michael’s established company. She crunched the numbers for Quinn’s film enterprise. She was the commanding proud Marine mom for Lance Corporal Liam Reeder. She was not only the loudest soccer fan but the number one supporter of Evee’s artistic endeavors. Her role as the wedding planner for Sydney and Kyle’s big day was the mission that kept her spirits high and her battle fierce. She loved watching her children love and be loved in return. She fought for her family every single day.
Lisa was a prayer warrior for those she loved and strangers she didn’t even know. Her faith in the love of Christ was her rock and her soft place to fall, especially during the last challenging years. It’s hard to express just how thankful she was for the prayers that came from near and close, as well as far and wide. She felt every single one. Keep them coming for Michael and her children if you don’t mind. Lisa was born in love and she died in love. Now, she’s in paradise on the perfect porch, tuning into the birdsong and cracking open the latest book from a favorite author. For everyone who sent a prayer her way, take heart knowing she’s there.
In addition to her immediate family, Lisa leaves behind a grateful crowd of in-laws and out-laws, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. She knows we are all holding each other close.
