Woodland Ridge is excited to announce our September Resident of the Month—Margaret!
Ms. Margaret is originally from Ellabell, Georgia, which is located in Bryan County, about 23 miles west of Savannah. She is one of four daughters born to a sharecropper. When Ms. Margaret was a child, her family home burned to the ground, so they moved to Savannah. Here, Margaret’s father became a caretaker for the Bonaventure Cemetery along with his brother.
Ms. Margaret met and married her husband, Thomas, in Savannah. Later, Thomas accepted a job at Lockheed and they moved to Smyrna, Georgia. Together, they have five children—three sons and two daughters—as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren!
After she and Thomas moved to Smyrna, Ms. Margaret went to work at Cobb Hospital, now Wellstar Cobb. She worked there for about 15 years before retiring.
Ms. Margaret has many talents, including sewing, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and painting. Her artwork has even been on display at the Smyrna Public Library. She also enjoys quilting and was part of the Smyrna Quilting Club that met at the historic landmark, Aunt Fanny’s Cabin. In her free time, Ms. Margaret also enjoyed walking around Smyrna with her best friend, Bonnie.
Since moving to Woodland Ridge, Ms. Margaret loves participating in the music activities, parties, and she loves to watch mystery or crime shows on TV.
We love having Ms. Margaret as part of our family at Woodland Ridge. She has a contagious smile, ready for everyone!
