Resident Spotlight – January 2026

Our Resident Spotlight for January 2026 is Aurelia Baughn-Brewer. Both Rod and Ree reside at Woodland Ridge, where they enjoy participating in church services, Bible study, music, and community outings.

🌟 Resident Spotlight: Aurelia Brewer 🌟

Aurelia Baughn-Brewer, affectionately called Ree, is a native of Chester, PA, where she was raised by her loving parents, Rev. James and Alma-Jean Houston. She is the oldest of four biological children, one boy and three girls, and was blessed to have three adopted brothers later in life from her parents’ ministry in foster care.

As the oldest sibling, Ree practiced her cooking on her siblings, even if it meant burning pans and burying them in the backyard before her parents got home. While Ree did perfect her cooking skills, she realized her talents were more suited for piano, where she is classically trained, and served as a musician for her father while he pastored. But Ree’s talents expanded beyond being a church musician and choir director, as she also became a licensed cosmetologist, esthetician, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Operating Room Technician after graduating from Chester High School in Chester, Pennsylvania. Ree did not limit her talents and can be considered a jack-of-all-trade.

Ree met her late first husband, James R. Baughn Sr., and the father of her three children, in Media, PA, where his family attended the church, her father pastored. They were in love for nearly 25 years before James Sr. was called home to be with the Lord in 1995. After his passing, Ree focused on raising her teenage children, James Jr. and Rhonda, with the help of her oldest son, Dwayne. Then Ree expanded her love to include the welcoming of her daughter-in-law, Esther-Lida, and the births of her granddaughters, Talayah (James Jr.) and Marjani (Dwayne and Lidia), and her bonus grandson, Robert.

Focused on being a pillar of strength for her family, Ree vowed not to remarry unless her next husband was walking, talking, and living Jesus every day. Well, her prayer was answered when her daughter’s best friend’s mother and uncle introduced Ree to Rev. Roderick Brewer in 2011. Falling in love quickly, as they both knew what and who they wanted in a mate, someone Christ-centered, they got married in June 2012. Together, they enjoy singing, walking, praying, and reading their bible together.

Always willing to offer words of encouragement, Ree will tell people that God is good all the time and that they should be strong in the Lord. If you get her going, she might sing and play the piano for you, something she made all her children do when they were growing up in church. But if nothing else, Ree will always have joy and love in her heart because she genuinely believes God is a keeper who will carry you through anything in life. More importantly, God loves you, and so does Ree.

Both Rod and Ree reside at Woodland Ridge, where they enjoy participating in church services, Bible study, music, and community outings.
