Resident Spotlight – May 2024

Our Resident Spotlight shines on Beverly Donahue for May 2024. Ms. Beverly is originally from Alexandria, Louisiana, and grew up with one brother and one sister. She says they moved a lot because of her Dad’s work, living in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, South Carolina, and Georgia. When Beverly was in Pennsylvania, she remembers they had a summer home in the Poconos that she truly enjoyed.

Beverly graduated from high school in Cheshire, Connecticut, and went on to Robert Morris College for a year. Then she married her husband and started their family. They have a daughter, Kristen, and a son, Michael, as well as 4 grandchildren, Milo, Stella, Liam and Mia. Family memories include going to Vermont with a large group of friends to spend a week on Lake Champlain. Another special family member was their dachshund, Riley. Beverly and her husband did some traveling, making a trip to Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam. Family vacations were always trips to Hilton Head to enjoy the beach. Her daughter, Kristen, remembers when she and her brother were little and they would get to go to Chicago to visit Beverly’s parents.

Although Beverly was mainly a stay-at-home Mom, she also spent 6 years working at a fabric store. She has excellent sewing skills and remembers making a complete bedroom set of the bedspread, bed skirt, canopy cover, and curtains for her daughter’s bedroom and lots of clothing over the years. Listening to 70’s music, especially Billy Joel and the Guess Who are Beverly’s favorites, along with cheering on the Yankees. Ron Guidry is her favorite player. Although she still loves the Yankees, Beverly is learning to like the Braves.

At Woodland Ridge, Beverly enjoys pet visits, lunch outings, music activities, and parties. She’s become a friend to many other residents, always having a welcoming smile and good conversation.

We’re so glad she decided to call Woodland Ridge her home.
