Resident Spotlight – May 2025
Our Resident Spotlight shines on Connie Zaring for May 2025. Ms. Connie was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, but grew up in Sanford, North Carolina. She has an older sister, Brenda, and a younger brother, Charles. Her parents owned a trucking company, taxi service and a grocery store, where Ms. Connie enjoyed scooping the ice cream for customers.
After high school, Ms. Connie went to florist school in Chicago, and when she graduated, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, and later to Atlanta. Ms. Connie’s specialty was doing floral arrangements for weddings and using silk flowers. She decorated the White House for Christmas, the Governor’s mansion, and also decorated houses for famous people like Braves player Tom Glavine.
Ms. Connie met her husband, Johnny, when he made a delivery to the florist shop where she worked. They married in 1977 and have one son, Jason, and two grandsons, Henry and Jackson. Ms. Connie volunteered often at her son’s school and published the PTA cookbook. She was also a Cub Scout den mother.
Besides being a florist, Ms. Connie is a talented painter, especially using water colors. Other hobbies include sudoku puzzles and jigsaw puzzles deep sea fishing and cooking. She loves to try new recipes. Ms. Connie grew up watching her brother play baseball, then came her husband playing softball, her son playing baseball and now her grandsons playing baseball. She’s a big fan of the Atlanta Braves too.
Here at Woodland Ridge, Ms. Connie enjoys the craft classes, painting, music, lunch outings, and the pet visits.
We’re so happy she decided to call Woodland Ridge her home.
