Celebrating Ms. Paula, May 2026 Resident Spotlight Ms. Paula, our May 2026 Resident Spotlight, was born in West Virginia and raised in Lakefield, Minnesota. She later made her home in Spencer and Okoboji, Iowa, where she built a fulfilling life raising her family and contributing to her community. Paula grew up with two younger brothers, both of whom now live in Colorado. As a young girl, Paula enjoyed a variety of activities. She was known for being quite talented on stilts, loved playing the clarinet in her school band, and spent time helping on her father’s chicken farm.

Paula graduated from Lakefield High School in 1969. She attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and later completed her degree at Drake University in Des Moines. She remained passionate about learning throughout her life, continuing her education at Iowa Lakes Community College as an adult. Professionally, Paula had a successful and diverse career. She worked as a Human Resources Manager at Stylecraft Furniture and Perry Judd’s Printing Press and later became a recruiter for a staffing agency in the early 2000s.

Together, they built a wonderful life and raised three children, Ben, Amy, and Paul, while spending many happy years near Lake Okoboji. Although Mike passed away unexpectedly in 2008, Paula holds dear memories of the life they shared.

Family remains at the heart of everything she does. Paula is a proud mother and grandmother to her grandson, Charlie, whom she loves spending time with.

Over the years, Paula and her family created many cherished traditions. They enjoyed annual ski trips to Colorado in the 1990s and later traveled to the Caribbean during winter breaks. She is especially known for her famous holiday “Party Mix,” a delicious and slightly spicy treat that has become a family favorite.
