Dust off your sneakers and lace them up because May is National Walking Month!
The sun is hanging around longer and the temperatures are warming up making this a perfect time to get outside and go for a walk. Whether it’s down the street, on a track, or along a park trail walking has a whole host of benefits.
Walking is good for our mind, body, and soul.
- Walking strengthens your heart and reduces your risk of heart disease and stroke. It also reduces bad levels of cholesterol and increases the levels of good cholesterol too reducing your risk of stroke by up to 27%.
- If you’re finding yourself settled into a bit of brain fog, consider taking a walk! Walking increases your energy by boosting circulation and increasing the oxygen supply around your body. This keeps you feeling alert and awake.
- Getting outside and getting a little sun increases your Vitamin D levels. This is good for your bone health and your immune system.
Check out this article from Active Nation for more information about the benefits of walking.
