Our Resident Spotlight shines on Sue Friedlein for the month of August. Mrs. Sue was born in Iowa, where she grew up on a farm and lived until her freshman year of high school. She later moved to Illinois and graduated from Moline High School. After graduation, her first job was as a secretary at Phipps Petroleum.
Sue and David have always enjoyed staying active and spending time together. They shared a love of horses and started a saddle club, hosting rodeo shows three times each year. They also rode in the county fair parade for 14 years. In 1962, her husband David became a square dance caller, and Sue traveled with him as they led a square dance club. Later, David drove a tour bus, and Sue often accompanied him as a tour escort.
About six months ago, Sue and David moved to Georgia to be closer to their sons and their families. Sue says one of her greatest accomplishments is the lifelong relationship she shares with David. She takes great pride in caring for him and providing him with loving, constant support. Sue also worked for 19 years at Stouffer’s before retiring. Today, Sue enjoys being part of the Woodland Ridge community. She especially appreciates the friendliness of the people, enjoys going on outings, and loves playing bingo.
