🌟 Resident Spotlight – February 2026 🌟
We are honored to recognize Dolores Smith as our Resident Spotlight for February 2026.
Dolores is originally from Newark, New Jersey. She grew up in a large family with four sisters and one brother, and she lovingly remembers her sister Nancy, who has passed on. Dolores graduated from Vailsburg High School and went on to build a meaningful career as an LPN at the VA hospital in East Orange, NJ, where she dedicated herself to caring for others.
Dolores was known for being quiet and keeping to herself, but her family shares fond memories, including the night her sister Eleanor had to pry her out of the house, which led to Dolores meeting her husband, Samuel Smith. He has since passed on and is remembered with love.
Dolores is the proud mother of two children, a son and a daughter. Her son, Armand “Sammy” Smith Jr. (born October 20, 1971), passed away on October 10, 1997, and is remembered always. Her daughter, Cherise Dolores Smith, is living and continues to be a great source of pride and love for her mother. Dolores does not have any grandchildren.
In the late 1980s, Dolores and her family would often visit her husband’s side of the family in Portsmouth, Virginia, creating cherished memories. Dolores remains deeply proud of her daughter, and while she still feels her son’s presence with her, her daughter lovingly reminds her that he is with them in spirit.
Dolores enjoys listening to the singer Maxwell and all kinds of music. She truly enjoys being here in the community.
We truly appreciate the positivity and presence Dolores brings to those around her, and we are proud to celebrate her this month.
