Our Employee Spotlight shines on Naesha Benjamin, a cook in our kitchen.
Naesha was born in Mobile, Alabama and has one younger sister. She remembers spending the night at her Dad’s and if they did not get up right away in the morning, her Dad would douse them with his super soaker squirt gun. That led to lots of laughter in the house.
Hurricane Katrina hit when Naesha was in 4th grade. She remembers how scary it was seeing trees coming down and boats floating down the street. After that experience, the family moved to Atlanta. Naesha played the trumpet in junior high, but when she got to high school, she became a cheerleader and majorette. After graduating from high school, Naesha went to Georgia Perimeter College. Chef Tony was her mentor who taught her about nutrition and the business side of the kitchen. Naesha has certifications in dietary, as a CNA and CPR.
In her spare time, Naesha enjoys drawing and painting on canvas, sewing and designing fashions and has a green thumb for plants and gardens. You can recognize Naesha by her colorful aprons she wears in her work. She has been at Woodland Ridge since July of 2020 and says, “Everybody at Woodland Ridge is so family oriented. There is a lot of compassions here. Our residents are relaxed and easy to talk to. Everyone is so nice.”
We love having Naesha as part of our team for her caring approach, sweet smile (even though it is hidden behind that sequined mask) and friendly attitude. She’s a true gem!
