RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT December, 2021
Our spotlight shines on Rita Manatrizio for December! Ms. Rita is originally from Brooklyn, New York and is an only child. She remembers as a kid that they were able to play in the streets with the neighbor kids until the streetlights came on. They would also sit on the stoop and sing. After Ms. Rita graduated from high school, she took a job doing bookkeeping at a bank. This would be a life long career for her, only taking time off while her children were small and resuming that career as her youngest went to middle school.
Ms. Rita loves the beach and met her husband, Tony, at Rockaway Beach. They met at a dance and continued their love of dancing to participate in competitive dances. Ms. Rita and her husband have 4 children, Joey, Michael, Paul and Lisa as well as 7 grandchildren. While their children were growing up, Tony worked with the Boy Scouts and Ms. Rita worked with the Girl Scouts. Daughter, Lisa, says Ms. Rita always put her kids first and made sure they had everything they needed. Ms. Rita managed to keep a large home with 4 kids and numerous pets impeccably clean. She was also known as a phenomenal cook and baker, always having dinner on the table at 6:00 even after returning to work at the bank.
Besides loving the beach, Ms. Rita loves fashion and decorating her home. She loves Christmas and besides decorating her home and making Christmas cookies, she always did a gingerbread house with her grandkids every year. Part of keeping her home was her gardening. She had a beautiful rose garden and planted tons of daffodils and tulips, her favorite flowers.
Here at Woodland Ridge, Ms. Rita enjoys bingo, music, crafts, pets and the parties. She says she “likes the location of Woodland Ridge so she can be close to at least 2 of her sons.” We’re so happy that Ms. Rita has chosen to call Woodland Ridge her home. Her sunny disposition and ready smile make all of us happy to be around her.
