Ice Cream Dream

At Woodland Ridge Assisted Living & Memory Care, we’re all about having fun and enjoying the best quality of life possible. We even get to help make some of our residents’ dreams come true!

Our resident Victor Earle told us he’d like to sell ice cream from an ice cream truck again. For more than a dozen years, Victor had driven an ice cream truck in the metro Atlanta area. Second Wind Dreams helped us make Victor’s wish a reality.

Victor was one of many seniors who participated in National Second Wind Dreams Day on September 15th. Across the nation, Second Wind Dreams, a nonprofit founded to honor seniors and provide education on the aging process, helped make hundreds of dreams come true. Award-winning geriatric specialist, P.K. Beville founded Second Wind Dreams® in 1997, and we were especially honored to have her join us for Victor’s dream.

Giedrius Gatautis of Atlanta Ice Cream Truck was also instrumental in fulfilling Victor’s dream. Gatautis used to work with Victor and still drives his ice cream truck in the area. Gatautis brought his truck to Woodland Ridge and
allowed Victor to “sell” the ice cream from his truck once again. Residents got to hear the traditional sounds of the ice cream truck and enjoy the cold, sweet treats compliments of Atlanta Ice Cream Truck and their generous donation.

Victor was all smiles as he doled out the treats, enjoying making others smile again, and Victor’s family made the day even more special since they were able to join him for the afternoon. If you ever wonder what quality of life is about, remember that sometimes it’s the simplest pleasures that make the biggest difference in our lives. We’re honored to be a Second Wind Dreams® partner and look forward to our next dream fulfillment. What’s your dream?
