Woodland Ridge is very lucky to have the energetic and talented, Kathryn Trice, as the Activity Director for assisted living. On any given day, Kathryn may be running to the store to buy the ingredients for root beer floats for cooking class, playing the harp (she is a professional harpist), or walking her dog, Bailey, through the resident’s hallway for pet visits. She keeps our residents busy and engaged through a wide variety of events every day that are planned 365 days a year.
What is impressive is how often she loads up the bus and takes our residents out to eat, to the dollar store, or more recently, to the Atlanta Braves game. Doing these activities are no small feat, it requires not only enormous amounts of planning but also the aid of some dedicated volunteers to load and unload the bus full of people with wheelchairs, canes, and walkers—-all with a smile on her face.
Kathryn also understands that every resident is an individual and she may be seen sitting in the room with a more introverted resident—just chatting. But it won’t be too long before she is back in motion by filling birdfeeders, watering tomato plants in the hot summer sun or leading a rousing game of Name That Tune. It is no wonder that we have a resident that sits and waits in the lobby for Kathryn to come to work so that when she updates the whiteboard, that resident’s day of adventure can begin.
Woodland Ridge says thank you to Kathryn for her creativity, boundless energy, caring spirit and her ability to maneuver a bus full of singing residents all over Atlanta.
