Ludmilla (Lucy) – May Resident of the Month

Ludmilla, or as we call her, Lucy, is our Resident of the Month for May and we can’t wait to tell you why! Lucy brings optimism to our community and she can often be heard humming or singing some of her favorite songs like, “Que Sera, Sera” or “Feliz Navidad,” even if it isn’t Christmastime.

She has been an award-winning dancer in all of our Dancing with the Senior Stars events, and she is just a lovely person all around. I talked to Lucy’s daughter, also named Ludmilla, and she told me that when her family lived in the Bronx, New York, it was their house where all the local kids congregated. If someone skinned their knee, they ran to Lucy, because she was a stay-at-home mom and was a very nurturing soul.

Lucy was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico and has many fond memories of her childhood there. She moved to New York as a teenager. After she raised her three children, she did eventually go to work as a Podiatrist Assistant. The black and white picture of Lucy was taken in the Bronx in 1959. Lucy also has three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren!

Lucy loves bingo and has an infectious laugh. She is usually never too far from where all the action is in the building or on our outings. Her daughter said that her mom was very social when she was growing up, and it doesn’t sound like she has changed that much. We feel very privileged to be able to hang out with Lucy. Congratulations to Lucy on being our Resident of the Month!
