We love to acknowledge our residents and we’re excited to announce that the Woodland Ridge July Resident of the Month is Virginia! Born and raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania with two brothers and one sister, she learned to love baseball because her brothers took her to the games – truly a family bonding experience.
After attending college at Drexel University, she earned a Business degree and worked at Southern Bell for many years. Virginia had met her husband Carl, on a blind date after her and her family had moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Carl and Virginia had four wonderful sons and four grandchildren. Carl had a Chemistry degree and, interestingly enough, 3 out of their 4 sons ALSO have Chemistry degrees! Carl was a very smart man and his memory will always be alive with their loving family. We asked one of Virginia’s sons why they all ended up in the same occupation and he said, “It is what we talked about around the dinner table.”
Virginia was very involved in the PTA, garden club, and bridge club. She tried her hand at art and loves painting landscapes. She is a huge Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves fan – as you can see from the photo! Featured in the photo is Virginia and her son, Stuart, at a Braves game last summer on one of their road trips.
Just recently, we had Marty Perez, a former Braves player, come to talk with our residents. Not only did Virginia have great questions, but she added quite a bit of colorful commentary!
Virginia has been a beautiful part of the Woodland Ridge family for about a year now. Virginia is great fun and extremely photogenic! She participated in Dancing with the Stars last year and almost always goes on Woodland Ridge outings. In our community, she loves to sit outside in the rocking chairs and has an infectious laugh and an award-winning smile.
