The September Employee Spotlight at Woodland Ridge is Perpetua “Pet” Nnorom. Perpetua has always had a skill for caring for others, being the oldest of nine children. She is originally from Nigeria where she went to college at Abia State University in Uturu. There she studied Government and Public Administration. While she was in college, Perpetua met her loving husband who brought her to America. Her husband came over to the United States to attend Clark Atlanta University for business endeavors.
When they moved here in 2002, Perpetua was nine months pregnant. She had to tell the airport security that she was only six months pregnant because she was afraid they wouldn’t let her fly… Just six days after she arrived, so did her first child. She said she was actually feeling contractions on the flight here!
Since that adventurous trip, they now have five children between the ages of 8 to 15 – four girls and one boy. Perpetua loves to cook and makes African dishes such as Jollof Rice and Casava FuFu. Her husband used his business degree and now manages a local Krystal hamburger joint so they do eat hamburgers on occasion, but Pet usually sticks with cooking her native food.
Perpetua has been at Woodland Ridge for six years now. She loves to see the residents smiling and happy. She claimed that not just anyone can work in caregiving, but you have to have this kind of job in “your heart.” We enjoy all of Perpetua’s interesting stories and having her on the team. She will do anything to keep her family together and do anything for her clients.
